These spicy meatballs are great! And they’re easy to prepare ahead of time, freeze, then pull out whenever needed.
So the spiciness of the meatballs made me think of Latin jazz. Check out “So Danco Samba” with Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto
Ingredients
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ¼ teaspoon basil
- ¼ teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon onion flakes
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- ½ cup quick oats
- ½ cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 egg
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 pounds ground sirloin
Instructions
- In a large bowl, put red pepper flakes, basil, oregano, onion flakes, garlic powder, salt, pepper, sesame seeds, quick oats, and Panko crumbs. Stir to combine.
- In a small bowl, combine milk and lemon juice. Pour over dry ingredients in large bowl. Stir and set aside for 15 minutes.
- Add egg, Parmesan cheese and meat. Mix with hands until consistent.
- Shape into balls and flatten slightly, placing them in a frying pan. Over medium heat, cook meatballs for 10 minutes on each side or until done.
