Campfire Chili Dogs

Campfire Chili Dogs

Two years ago us kids got my dad a portable fire pit for our backyard patio. He loves to sit on the bench by his above-ground, metal fire pit with a carefully designed fire in it! So do us kids, but we also like a little food!

Technically, we may not have made these chili dogs over a campfire, but it was over an open flame. This is really just about the easiest campfire meal ever.

Always plan for a safe fire situation! On that thought, take a listen to “I Don’t Want to Set the World on Fire” sung by jazz vocalist Betty Carter.

Campfire Chili Dogs

  • Bun-length beef hot dogs
  • Hot dog buns
  • 1 can chili beans
  • Grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 onion, chopped (optional)

  1. Warm the hot dog on a long-handled skewer over the fire.
  2. Put the warm hot dog in the bun.
  3. Add desired amount of chili beans, cheese, and onion.
